Pandaemonium
Welcome to Pandaemonium. Our intention is to support the WA BSD community and spread the word about BSD.

From Pandaemonium, capital of Hell in Paradise Lost, an epic poem by John Milton: Greek pan (all), Latin daemonium (from Greek daimonion - lesser god, demon). Literally "all demons".

ATI Radeon drivers Email Article To a Friend View Printable Version
    Thursday, April 22 2004 @ 05:41 AM EST

I'm getting a bit cheesed off with the lack of FreeBSD support by ATI. There is GL support from the open source community for the older Radeons, but nothing as yet for the Radeon 9500+.

If everone takes a minute to visit the ATI Linux driver feedback page and lets them know that there is a demand for a FreeBSD driver (especially since they already have a Linux driver available), then maybe we can get some support.

GDM 2.4.4.3 Email Article To a Friend View Printable Version
    Saturday, October 11 2003 @ 06:56 PM EST
    Contributed by: deece

I've updated my GDM installation to the latest version (2.4.4.3) from ports, and the keyboard no longer responds!

A bit of research shows that it is due to GDM taking over a VT that getty has already grabbed for itself, unfortunately, the directives in the GDM config file are only applicable to Linux.

As a workaround, I enabled GDM in /etc/ttys and disabled the startup script in /usr/local/etc/rc.d.

The problems that used to occur when starting GDM in this way no longer occur, so for now, this seems like the way to get it working.

Enabling high-colour capabilities in XFree86-4.1.0 Email Article To a Friend View Printable Version

After installing the new version over 3.3.6 I discovered that my X-windows session was operating in only 256 colours! A few of my friends mentioned the same thing, which led me to suspect that the XF86Config file output by XFree86 -configure needed some tweaking (of course!). After a small amount of searching through the online documentation (http://www.xfree86.org/4.1.0/XF86Config.5.html) it took me about 5 mins to solve the prob...well for me anyway...

With a relatively up-to-date FreeBSD installation, getting your mouse wheel to work is quite simple. Read more to see how it's done. This article assumes you have: * KDE 2 or greater * XFree86 3.3.2 or greater (preferably 4.1.0) * An IntelliMouse (or compatible)

hello BSD gurus of perth :) well here's my problem... i can't seem to get Xfree86 4.1 working under FreeBSD 4.4 if i run the command X -configure and then test it out (X -xf86config /root/XF86Config.new) it will just freeze the whole computer, and if trying the graphical useage of configuring Xfree 4x (i forgot the command) the computer will freeze after the line "Test out with Xfree86 -xf86config ...." Specfications of Computer ASUS A7VL-VM KM133 Prosavage 16MB Shared RAm videocard (integrated with the mobo) AC97 integrated sound 256MB i believe the mobo prolly has sum conflict with bsd... because this card works under Linux (Xfree86 4.0.1)... and the savage_o driver does not work under Xfree86 3.3.6 .. (can the prosavage work under 3.3.6?)
